Agents respond to NFL Combine boycott reports

Agents of prospects attending next week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis released a statement on Monday responding to reports that some 150 players could boycott key activities in the event.

The statement, shared via Twitter by ESPN's Adam Schefter, states that boycotting workouts because of strict COVID-19 "bubble" restrictions isn't the first resort, and the prospects would like to work with the league to make changes prior to the event.

A memo sent to agents over the weekend spelled out stern "bubble" restrictions during the combine that will not allow players to be in close contact with trainers, doctors and other important player personnel.

If the strict rulings aren't amended, agents will recommend players only participate in medical activities at the combine and save physical events for individual pro days. The NFLPA sent a memo on Sunday night supporting a prospective boycott, calling the combine "antiquated" and saying it "needs serious modification and elimination."

The NFL Combine starts March 1 and ends March 7.
