Ahmed Hassanein shows off impressive physique with yet another feat of strength

Bench pressing alone won't guarantee a player will have a successful career, of course, but it does show why the Lions are so encouraged by Hassanein. Work ethic has been a big focal point of Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell's regime, and there's clearly been no days off for the youngster in terms of his physical preparation after the draft.

If Hassanein can put as much focus into learning the playbook as he does into his fitness, that could become a lethal combination for the Lions up front. Already, there's been some signs that has been the case.

Hassanein has been impressive in plenty of different ways after coming to the Lions. He just finished up rookie minicamp as well as OTA's and is going full steam ahead before training camp. When that comes around in late July, reality will finally begin to set in.

Rodgers took over as defensive line coach, and has already been happy with what he has seen with Hassanein in plenty of ways. Heading into the summer, he sent him a message of support before the hard work of his first season begins.

"Just continue the growth. You're talking about an impressive young man. A guy (that's) been in the United States eight years, comes in, has to learn English and gets drafted in the National Football League? That's impressive. It's hard enough to learn English, and then you're learning football lingo (like) stunt, trap, drop. He's hard working. He takes a lot of notes, asks good questions and is very energetic He's bright eyed (and) bushy tailed, can't wait to get here. So far, it's been really positive."

It sounds like Hassanein is doing everything he needs to adjust to the league. The Lions think they have enough depth along the edge this season, and if they are proven right, Hassanein will be a reason that's the case. His body seems ready to survive the grind of a rookie season.
