The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of their key players on Sunday as three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown sits out against the New York Giants. Brown will be forced to miss the Week 8 matchup due to a hamstring injury.
The former Ole Miss Rebels star missed all three days of practice leading up to Sunday’s game, and while there was some optimism that Brown would be ready to face the Giants, the Eagles ultimately decided to err on the side of caution and have him sit out.
Brown will miss his first game of the season after already having registered 29 receptions for 395 yards and three touchdowns in his first seven games.
The bad news for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles is that their offense will be undermanned against the Giants on Sunday. The good news, however, is that Brown is not expected to miss an extended period due to his hamstring issue.
The fact that Philly will be on bye in Week 9 works in Brown’s favor. According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, Brown’s absence should be limited to just one game.
“#Eagles WR AJ Brown, who is out Sunday against the #Giants, is likely going to be back after the bye for the Nov. 10 game against the #Packers, sources say,” Rapoport reported on X.

Philadelphia enters Sunday’s matchup against New York following a 28-22 win over the Minnesota Vikings. That was the Eagles’ first win in three games after back-to-back losses. One of those defeats came at the hands of the Giants in Week 6, 34-17, which is why Philly will be out to make amends on Sunday.
The Eagles will host the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field, with kickoff scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on FOX.
