'All he does is do everything well' - 3 Dallas Cowboys players that immediately became more intriguing after first week of OTAs

It's very early in the offseason to call anyone a true winner or loser, but these Dallas Cowboys players are putting themselves on the radar immediately after the first week of practices at The Star.

Keep in mind, players won't suit up until training camp so OTAs takeaways are mostly based on reps distribution and comments from players, coaches, and even insiders.

Let's dive in.

1. FB Hunter Luepke

Can't get much better than being brought up unprompted by the head coach and that's what happened to Luepke earlier in the week.

"I'd be remiss for not talking about Hunter Luepke," Schottenheimer told reporters on Tuesday. "He's playing some (running back) for us, he's playing some fullback, he's playing some tight end, and all he does is do everything well."

Luepke is a versatile player on the field that fits the physicality that offensive coordinator Klayton Adams wants to bring to the table. With the expected increase of counter and other gap scheme run plays, Luepke's usage could skyrocket.

2. CB Israel Mukuamu

Mukuamu's career has been quite the roller coaster as he's been moved around the defensive backfield a whole lot. With the third defensive staff in three years, it was unclear what the Cowboys had in mind for Mukuamu when they re-signed him in March.

Now we know: Mukuamu got a "healthy dose of work in the slot," per Nick Harris. Izzy played some of his best football at nickel a couple of years ago and now that the door is wide open, let's see if he can earn himself a spot on the starting lineup.

3. LB Jack Sanborn

Sanborn seems to be spearheading the competition for starting middle linebacker over former first-rounder Kenneth Murray. Even if that changes with time, Sanborn has become a top player to watch this offseason.

"Sanborn, the free agent pickup, seems the favorite," wrote Calvin Watkins for the Dallas Morning News. "(Kenneth) Murray, acquired in a trade, might surprise in training camp to make this a close race."
