Allgeier Believes There's 'Some Good' in Struggling Offense

Things may seem bleak for the Atlanta Falcons as the calendar turns to Week 10 of the NFL season, but the team isn't bailing on the season with a 4-5 record.

Running back Tyler Allgeier is among those who are keeping a positive attitude in the midst of recent struggles, the most recent of which came in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

“As much as it sucks to lose, it feels like we’re 2-8," Allgeier said. "I think we're in a really good spot. We’re what, like 4-5 right now? So, I know we’re in a really great spot to do some great things in the future. It really just comes down to learning from this film and then getting ready for next week. Being 1-0 next week, that’s really the main focus.”

That "next week" focus will come in the form of a road date with the Arizona Cardinals, a game set for a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff on CBS.

In order for the Falcons to knock off the Cardinals on the road, what needs to happen? For starters (and where Allgeier is concerned) the offense has to be clicking. With a new quarterback under center in Taylor Heinicke, there could be an adjustment period on that side of the ball, but the Falcons offense has been up-and-down throughout the young campaign.

“There’s some goods, then there’s some things we can work on," Allgeier said of the Atlanta offense. "Really just going through the film. Not every play’s going to be perfect and not every play’s going to be great. I think we’ve just got to keep on getting better every day and that starts with the film tomorrow.”

Allgeier had the most touches in the running back room for the Falcons on Sunday, getting 12 carries for just 39 yards. He will look to improve on those numbers next week in Arizona, for sure, and maybe he's right. Maybe it does start with the film, but if the losses keep piling up, that explanation can only be used for so long.
