Amanda Gorman to recite original poem during Super Bowl LV pregame ceremony

Amanda Gorman, who recited a poem during President Joe Biden's inauguration, will reach another massive audience next month when she takes center stage at the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay.

The NFL announced Wednesday that Gorman will recite an original poem before Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to The Athletic's Greg Auman.

The poem will be about three honorary captains -- educator Trimaine Davis, nurse Suzie Dorner and Marine Corps veteran James Martin.

Davis, an educator in Los Angeles, helped provide students with internet access and computers so they would be able to access remote learning during the pandemic. Dorner, a nurse in Tampa Bay, manages the COVID-19 ICU unit at Tampa General Hospital. Martin, a veteran from Pittsburgh, has helped veterans and their families connect virtually through his work at the Wounded Warrior Project

Gorman was the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate. She became an instant sensation following the inauguration.
