Amari Cooper Eyeing Return To Bills

The Buffalo Bills' mid-season move for Amari Cooper didn't pan out how the franchise wanted.

Cooper showed flashes, but poor form and injury interrupted his groove, and he only managed 297 yards and two touchdowns from 20 receptions during his time in Buffalo.

Now a free agent, it seems like an easy decision to move on from the Pro Bowler, right?

What if Buffalo didn't? One could argue that Cooper could have been more productive had it not been for his injury. Plus, as a mid-season acquisition, he was learning on the go.

Pro Football Network thinks that a potential Cooper return for the Bills needs at least to be a discussion point for general manager Brandon Beane.

“Cooper turns 31 this June, and his combination of age and declining production could allow the Bills to bring him back on a cheap one-year deal,” PFN writes. “There’s a scenario where a full offseason with Josh Allen enables Cooper to occupy a more consistent role after he played only 43% of the snaps in the games he was active. The question boils down to whether the Bills can find a better cheap veteran fit on the free agent market, or whether they have the patience to let another rookie develop on a win-now team.”

Cooper, with a full offseason with Josh Allen and learning the Bills offense, is an interesting prospect, but money will play an important role if Amari returns.

Spotrac.com has Cooper's value at $14.2 APY and we are fairly certain the Bills won't be paying that. But maybe a one-year, $8 million deal or something similar might be enough to get Cooper back.

After all, the Bills were close to a Super Bowl, something Cooper has never been to, so could he take less money for another shot at glory?
