The Buffalo Bills handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season at Highmark Stadium, and Amari Cooper got his first taste of the rivalry.
The 30-21 win moved the Bills to 9-2 on the season, and Cooper is now firmly entreched into the culture of Buffalo having been traded by the Cleveland Browns weeks ago.
While Amari's journey so far as a Bill has been a little up-and-down due to injury, he got his first taste of a true playoff-like win and atmosphere as a member of Joe Brady's offense.
In reflecting on the game, Cooper made a rather startling revelation regarding his emotions after being involved in such a win.
“It's the first time in a like long time that I've actually felt joy from winning this game, from just the way we played from having so many guys on the team who are playmakers, and they come up, and they show up when their when their number is called,” Cooper said. “Collectively, as a group, it's just amazing; a lot of the guys here, it's just a different place, Buffalo, compared to some of the other places I've been to.
"It's a tight-knit group I would say a lot of the guys go out together, they hang around each other 24/7 and it truly shows up on the field.''
That culture has been the driving force for the Bills in 2024, with offensive coordinator Joe Brady and his "everybody eats"mantra fueling the 9-2 start to the season.
No one cares who gets the targets or touchdowns; everyone is pulling in the same direction, and one thing is at the top of every player's mind—winning.
Cooper it appears, has had his eyes opened to the Buffalo way of doing things under Brady and it has not only been a positive experience on the field, but for Amari to share that this is the first time in a while that he has felt joy at winning a football game, tells us that there's something special about this version of the Bills.
And Cooper is happy to be a part of it.
