The Detroit Lions have reached a contract agreement with cornerback Amik Robertson.
Robertson, 25, secured a two-year contract with $9.25 million with $4.5 million in guaranteed monies.
At signing, the talented NFL defensive back will receive a $3.3 million signing bonus.
In 2024, $1.2 million of his salary is fully guaranteed. In 2025, his salary will increase to $4.2 million.
There are incentives built into the deal for interceptions and earning a spot in the Pro Bowl and a $500,00 roster bonus for being on the Lions roster in 2025, the fifth day after the start of the new league year.
Detroit's newest cornerback possesses traits Detroit's coaching staff should find appealing.
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, a former NFL defensive back, has preached physicality and resiliency, two traits Robertson possesses.

“First of all, he’s extremely talented when the ball is in the air,” Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said, via The Athletic. “He’s probably one of the more physical DBs, as well. You always see him punch the ball, coming through making tackles. I don’t want to call it the little man complex, but he walks around like he’s 6-2, 220 sometimes, and he’s fearless. He’s a smart football player. He has confidence, and I’m glad he’s finally having success on the field.”
Detroit's front office has made a concerted effort to retool the defensive backs room, as the struggles became quite evident throughout the 2023 season.
Robertson explained, “I’m a very confident guy. Once I built myself up, I didn’t really worry about what anybody said.”
