Amon-Ra St. Brown Did Most Sunday Damage vs. CB Once Compared to Super Bowl Winner

The Detroit Lions watched Amon-Ra St. Brown perform a wide receiving clinic on the Chicago Bears Sunday. The All-Pro shredded the NFC North rival with nine catches, 115 yards and three touchdowns.

Including delivering his most damage against a cornerback once compared to a recent Super Bowl winning defender.

St. Brown faced five different defensive backs on Chicago's side per Pro Football Focus, including All-Pro Jaylon Johnson and slot cornerback Nick McCloud -- who allowed two touchdowns against the Lions star.

But Tyrique Stevenson endured the worst of St. Brown's dynamics during the 52-21 Lions rout. Stevenson allowed 70 yards on three catches and watched St. Brown average 23.3 yards per catch facing him.

Stevenson not long ago drew pre-draft praise for his coverage ability.

The CB Tyrique Stevenson got Compared to Before Facing Amon-Ra St. Brown

Stevenson not long ago earned comparisons to James Bradberry -- the Philadelphia Eagles star who won his first Super Bowl last season.

Lance Zierlein of the NFL Network handed the Miami star that comparison. Hailing the 6-foot defender as a "Big cornerback with the size and play strength to help match up with bigger receivers in the league."

Zierlein threw in how Stevenson showed strong recovery speed and is physical in press man.

But St. Brown shredded him the worst out of all five DBs he faced inside Ford Field. Stevenson even has this stunning stat line attached to him: He's allowed a 158.3 passer rating this season, the highest in the NFL among active cornerbacks.

Amid Zierlein's draft hype for Stevenson, he mentioned this flaw: The CB struggled as a "pattern matcher" during off-man sequences. St. Brown exposed that flaw by scoring off a front pylon comeback route.

While St. Brown scored twice on McCloud, he only averaged 6.5 yards against him off his four catches. Stevenson became the weakest link DB St. Brown and the Lions exposed.

St. Brown Sent Fiery Message to Former Offensive Coordinator

St. Brown wasn't through piling on the Bears.

He sent a fiery message directed toward his former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who's now leading Chicago as head coach.

"Ben, what he did for us, I mean we'll never take that for granted. He was a big part of what we did here," St. Brown began with reporters. "But just him being over there, we wanted to show that we can still — us as players, we can still make it happen."

St. Brown added: "We've got a great group of guys, a great group of coaches. So, we wanted to go out there and put on a little show."

Detroit did just that in dropping a 50-burger without its famed OC. The perennial Pro Bowler also produced his first 100-yard outing with John Morton as his new play-caller.
