49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo breaks record once held by Joe Montana, Colin Kaepernick

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo made some San Francisco 49ers history in Monday night's 38-10 blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals.

According to Grant Gordon of the league's website, NFL Research pointed out that the 49ers are now 14-0 when Garoppolo doesn't throw an interception during a game. That's a new record for San Francisco quarterbacks and breaks a team mark once shared by Hall of Famer Joe Montana and Colin Kaepernick.

Garoppolo completed 20-of-29 pass attempts for 228 yards with four touchdowns and no picks against Arizona en route to leading San Francisco to a third-straight victory. The 6-4 49ers next host the 4-7 New Orleans Saints this coming Sunday.

Garoppolo surpassed Montana and Kaepernick in this particular category less than three full months after he agreed to a restructured contract and a reduction in pay to stay with the 49ers as the backup to starter Trey Lance. The 31-year-old resumed his starting duties when Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2, and individuals such as Tim Kawakami of The Athletic believe ahead of Thanksgiving Day that Garoppolo is playing well enough this fall to guide the 49ers to a Super Bowl title.

"His TD-to-INT ratio is an amazing 15-4," Kawakami wrote about Jimmy G's season. "And Garoppolo’s 1.5 percent interception rate is a career low."

Per ESPN stats, Garoppolo begins Week 12 fifth among qualified signal-callers with a 104.1 passer rating, tied for fourth with an average of 8.1 yards per pass attempt, and ninth with a 67.0% completion percentage on the campaign.
