Aaron Rodgers speaks about first week as Jets QB
Aaron Rodgers seems to have enjoyed his first week as the new starting quarterback of the New York Jets.
"It’s been great," Rodgers said about all that he's experienced during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," as shared by Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post. "Everything is new. It’s like the first day of school every single day. There’s new people to meet, gotta figure out your routine, where the laundry goes, mail, cleats, weight room, shoes and all the stuff...I’m just pinching myself a lot of days. I can’t believe it’s real sometimes. It’s been a dream for sure just to be here. I definitely feel energized to be in the building."
Rodgers was introduced as a Jets player last Wednesday and has already been spotted throwing passes to new teammates during practices, and at New York Rangers and New York Knicks playoff games:
According to SNY, the New York Mets have reached out to Rodgers about throwing a ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field ahead of a game. Rodgers told McAfee he hasn't yet heard from the New York Yankees about a similar opportunity.
Rodgers was sure to point out that he spent "18 beautiful years" with the Green Bay Packers before last week's trade became official.
"But, 18 years in the same spot, you kind of get used to everything, and everything is the same-old-same-old in a lot of ways, which has its beauty for sure, but with everything new, and embracing the change, and things that aren’t as comfortable as they used to be, it’s been a lot of fun," Rodgers continued.
Rodgers has made the Jets must-see television to the point that they could be featured in five prime-time games, including the Week 1 "Monday Night Football" contest against none other than the New York Giants, during the upcoming season. Eventually, the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player will have to win to remain popular among members of the Jets faithful, but he can first spend portions of the spring and summer months as the Big Apple's latest toast of the town.
