The Denver Broncos are in a situation where they can either go get the quarterback they so desperately need and throw him out there and hope something sticks, or they can could build a great situation around a QB first and then draft one.

If I were the Broncos, I'd get the quarterback they have needed for years. They haven't had their quarterback in who knows how long and have continuously struck out year after year, even though Russell Wilson was actually good last season.

Now, they could draft one at pick No. 12 or try and trade up for one that they really like. But that second option is going to cost them, and it could cost them a lot. Luckily, they have picks to trade. That's where it gets tricky, though.

You never really want to overpay too much. But, sometimes, it happens, and sometimes, it's worth it, depending on the picks you have to give up. For example, if the Broncos want to move up from 12 to three, they will have to give up at least two first-round picks.

But are the Broncos willing to give up picks?

"I would just say if it's a player that you think can change the landscape of your organization moving forward, like a quarterback, then you do whatever it takes to get him," head coach Sean Payton recently said.

I'm all for trading a lot of picks if it means you get the guy you need to turn everything around. Right now, that's what the Broncos need—they need that face of the franchise, as they don't currently have one on the offensive side of the ball, but just Patrick Surtain on defense.

Personally, I would make the trade under certain circumstances. If they have to give up the 2025 first-round pick, I may not do it. The way this roster is currently looking, that pick could be a top-three pick in the draft next season. But, the further back you go in first-round picks by the year, the more the value declines.

The Broncos do need a QB, though, so I won't be surprised to see that still happen. I think they can get a guy like Michael Penix at 12 and still be really good. Only time will tell.
