Detroit Lions Pro Football Hall of Fame watch

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will induct the class of 2023 on Aug. 5. Here are players from the 2023 Lions who could join the immortals in Canton someday.

Fringe Hall of Famer

Frank Ragnow, center: Ragnow still has boxes to check to be in the Canton conversation, but the 27-year-old is already one of the best centers in the NFL. Entering his sixth professional season, he still has plenty of time to add to his résumé.

Ragnow has anchored Detroit's offensive line since being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, making 65 starts over five seasons. After injuries limited him to only four games in 2021, Ragnow returned to form last season. He started 16 games in 2022, earning his second career Pro Bowl nod while ranking fifth among centers with a 77.9 grade, per Pro Football Focus.

Young players who could develop into Hall of Famers

Aidan Hutchinson, edge: Selected second overall by the Lions in the 2022 NFL Draft, Hutchinson burst onto the scene as a rookie, turning heads with his explosive athleticism. After only one season in the NFL, Hutchinson has proven to be an impactful difference-maker, well on his way to a standout career.

The 22-year-old played in all 17 games of his first NFL season, tallying 9.5 sacks, 52 tackles and three interceptions. If Hutchinson's rookie campaign is any indication, the former Michigan Wolverine may be on a Hall of Fame trajectory, especially if his output stays consistent.

Penei Sewell, right tackle: Sewell has quickly emerged as one of the best young tackles in the NFL since the Lions drafted him seventh overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 22-year-old took a giant leap in 2022 and is on the cusp of becoming one of the league's elite protectors.

Sewell was nearly perfect on the right side last season for Detroit. Voted to his first Pro Bowl, he allowed only two sacks in 2022 and was ranked the 11th-best tackle in the NFL by PFF.

The 6-foot-5, 331-pounder has NFL lineage on his side, with four relatives having played in the league.
