Lawyer for Seahawks CB Quinton Dunbar says robbery story is a 'fabrication'

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar was accused of participating in a robbery with Giants defensive back Deandre Baker, but according to Michael Greico, Dunbar's lawyer, the entire story was completely made up.

"It's a fabrication," Greico said during a radio interview on Sports Radio 950 KJR in Seattle. "I wouldn't be coming out as quickly and as loudly as I have if I didn't strongly believe that that's the case. Everything that's happened since that day has just further buttressed my position on that."

Greico explained that he has obtained four sworn affidavits from witnesses which all directly contradict the accusation that Dunbar was a part of the alleged robbery. Dunbar and Baker have been accused of stealing more than $50,000 worth of jewelry and cash at a party they attended in Broward County, Florida.

"Whether I'm being told the truth or the police are being told the truth, those two stories are completely different," he said. "They've sworn under penalty of perjury to both versions of events. So when I say they're liars, they're liars. They either lied under oath to me or they lied under oath to the police. Either way, their credibility is shot."

With the witnesses reportedly recanting their stories, chances seem low that Dunbar will face charges unless Miramar, Fla., police can uncover some evidence that proves a robbery took place. Greico claims he can account for Dunbar's whereabouts the night of the alleged robbery.

Dunbar's innocence would be a relief to the Seahawks since he is currently slated to be their starting right cornerback. The 27-year-old Dunbar is entering the final year of his contract.
