Fans of Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown were already aware he was being filmed all season for an upcoming Netflix special.
This week, additional details were released regarding the follow-up to "Quarterback" that aired in July of 2023.
Jared Goff and several high-profile signal-callers declined to be filmed, so the production likely shifted to feature talented wideouts this year.
“The natural progression is from a pass to a catch, so we’re excited to dive into the ‘Receiver’ world after the success of our ‘Quarterback’ series,” said Gabe Spitzer, vice president, nonfiction sports, Netflix. “NFL Films and Omaha Productions have delivered again in finding unique and dynamic athletes who will further highlight the drama of this sport on and off the field.”
The eight-part series "Receiver" followed St. Brown, along with Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, Raiders receiver Davante Adams, 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel and Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson throughout their journey in 2023.
A tight end was tracked, as George Kittle of the 49ers will be featured this summer.
"We are excited to be working again with Netflix and NFL Films to give fans unprecedented access to what it’s like to play receiver at the highest level,” Peyton Manning released in a statement. “As we did with 'Quarterback,' we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skillset, and motivation for what drives them to be the best.”
Lions supporters instantly took to social media to share their excitement, as the talented wideout has become one of the most popular members of the roster.
"The world not ready," one supporter posted.
"REAL CINEMA IS BACK," another shared online.
His podcast that airs weekly during the regular season has added to his popularity, as the former fourth-round pick showcases his energetic personality and unique interviewing style.
