The New York Jets are making a very smart move.  The Miami Dolphins should be watching very closely.

New York Jets chairman Woody Johnson announced recently that the Jets would be switching back to their throwback uniforms as their full-time ones.

Johnson's tweet notes the team will be going to a throwback - or "legacy" - uniform as their full-time ones.  The Jets have been in their current uniforms from 2019-2023.  NFL rules prevent teams from changing them no sooner than every five years.  As such, the Jets are making the move at their soonest convenience.

Unfortunately, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross isn't as keen on switching to Miami's throwback uniforms on a full-time basis.  Dan Marino said as much last week on radio row, noting that the current logo and uniforms are Ross's "baby" and that he's tired of hearing about it.

That's a stubborn, selfish, and unwise reason not to do something, simply because you want it or because you made something.  But hey, billionaires don't normally do what they're asked; they're usually telling folks what to do.

The Dolphins have a tremendously aesthetically appealing uniform design with the throwbacks that large portions of the fan base have clamored for over the past several years.  They would sell like hot cakes even more than they already have if they became the primary uniform, as would anything with the throwback Dolphins logo sewn or printed on it.  It would be a gold mine for Ross.

It's also worth noting that in Johnson's tweet, several Jets players are asking for the adoption of the legacy uniforms.  Likewise, several of Miami's players raved about the Dolphins' throwback uniforms last season as well.

It would be great if, just one time, Ross listened to his fans and players like Johnson has and did the right thing.
