Panthers could be without Christian McCaffrey, Teddy Bridgewater vs. Lions?

The Carolina Panthers could be without two key offensive figures for the Week 11 home game against the Detroit Lions.

ESPN's Adam Schefter (h/t David Newton) reports that All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey could miss multiple games due to the shoulder injury that he suffered during the 33-31 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 8.

It was originally hoped a second opinion cleared McCaffrey to sit out only the Week 10 showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a game Carolina dropped to fall to 3-7 on the season. A right ankle sprain previously sidelined McCaffrey from late in the Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay back on Sept. 20 through the Chiefs contest.

Additionally, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is dealing with soreness and swelling in his right knee that could keep him a spectator through the upcoming weekend. Bridgewater hurt the knee on a sack by Buccaneers pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss.

It's not the same knee Bridgewater injured while with the Minnesota Vikings in 2016.

P.J. Walker, who spent time in the XFL, completed two of four passes versus the Bucs and could start if Bridgewater can't go against the Lions. Second-year pro Will Grier is also on the depth chart but hasn't yet played a down this season.
