Raiders' Maxx Crosby reveals interesting reason for backing Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII

The Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs rivalry goes back to the days of the American Football League, so it stands to reason that most players representing the silver and black would be rooting against the defending champions in Super Bowl LVIII.

Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby isn't most people, and on Wednesday, he revealed on NFL Network's "Super Bowl Live" that he wants the Chiefs to hoist another Lombardi Trophy. However, his reasoning is bound to fire Raider Nation up.

"Selfishly, I want the Chiefs to win so we can be the ones to take them down and take them off that pedestal," Crosby said. "I take it really personal. I got the ultimate respect for [Patrick] Mahomes and Chris Jones and all those guys, but they're the ones standing in our way. So, we're looking forward to seeing them again next season."

Crosby's confidence in the Raiders and his commitment to the franchise has to be a breath of fresh air. The three-time Pro Bowler recently said he wanted to remain with the team but threatened to ask for a trade if interim head coach Antonio Pierce wasn't back full-time.

Ultimately, Pierce stayed, and it appears so will Crosby, who later said he was "speaking for the organization" as one of the team's leaders when he threatened to force his way out.

"If I got to take heat for standing up for what everybody believes in, I'll do that every single time because I know I'm coming from a good place, and I just want to win," Crosby told Jenna Lemoncelli of the New York Post.
