Rams rookie Ronnie Rivers nearly matches NFL salary thanks to incredible poker hand

In one improbable poker hand, Rams rookie running back Ronnie Rivers nearly matched his salary from this season.

Rivers hit the "Mega Progressive Jackpot" at Caesars Palace while celebrating his and his mother's birthday this past weekend. He won a whopping $514,837 playing Three Card Poker after pulling a mini royal flush, the highest hand one can get.

After Rivers won, an acquaintance captured the thrilling scene, and Rivers shared it on Instagram. FanDuel Casino's official Twitter account reposted the video on Tuesday.

Over five years at Fresno State, Rivers rushed for 3,417 yards and 40 touchdowns. He went undrafted in 2022 and had brief stints with the Cardinals and Seahawks this past offseason before landing with the Rams in September.

The Rams signed him for a base salary of $705K, but after taxes, Rivers took home an estimated $515,670, according to Yahoo Sports' Ryan Young

The 24-year-old appeared in eight games for the Rams this season, accumulating 50 total yards on 14 touches. He'll get a raise next season as he re-signed with the Rams for a base salary of $870,000.

To put Rivers' winnings in perspective, players the team that won the Pro Bowl Games held in Las Vegas this past weekend took home only $84,000. The losing side collected half that.

Additionally, each Rams player earned $150,000 for winning Super Bowl LVI, so if there's one Ram who might be glad the team didn't repeat, it's Rivers.

As for Rivers' plans for the money he won, he says he'll use the money to buy a house, per KVVU Fox5
