Steelers limiting ticket sales for 2020 season due to coronavirus

If fans are allowed into NFL stadiums come September, it's likely going to be in a limited capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pittsburgh Steelers are keeping that in mind while they continue to sell tickets to home games for the 2020 campaign by making half of their tickets available, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.

"We are holding back 50% of the individual game ticket sales inventory because we are preparing for possible social distancing scenarios this year at Heinz Field," said Burt Lauten, according to Pryor.

Pittsburgh put tickets up for sale on Friday morning and is the first team to limit sales as a precaution. While the NFL has yet to announce if fans will be allowed to attend games, it's believed that the stands will be empty due to COVID-19 concerns.

The league currently is in a phase of reopening with teams allowed to open facilities, if their respective states allow it, with precautions in place due to the pandemic.

The NFL released its 2020 schedule in full earlier this month with hopes that it'll be able to play games in some capacity.

Other leagues around the United States are desperately searching for ways to resume their seasons, and it seems Walt Disney World is the front-runner to host the NBA if and when the season can begin again. Major League Baseball is receiving pushback from players regarding safety and pay disputes, while the NHL is discussing a 24-team playoff format.
