Matt LaFleur sheds light on concerning Tucker Kraft situation
The Green Bay Packers continued work on the field on Saturday, with tens of thousands of fans in attendance watching amid the annual Family Night. However, one notable player who was not able to make it to the field and practice was tight end Tucker Kraft. The former South Dakota State Jackrabbits star is nursing a lower-body injury, forcing the Packers to take it easy on the tight end and keep him on the shelf rather than risk aggravation of the issue. Speaking to the media, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur opened up about Kraft’s status, via Green Bay reporter Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “MLF said Tucker Kraft has been dealing with a groin injury and powering through it for the last two days but they decided to give him a couple days off.” Kraft is expected to be among the major targets in the Packers’ passing attack in his third year in the pros. Selected in the third round (78th overall) by the Packers in the 2023 NFL draft, the 24-year-old Kraft is looking to surpass his production in 2024, when he posted 707 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 50 receptions.
Steelers Could Have Fresh Opportunity To Land Controversial Wide Receiver After Huge Problem Lingers In Miami
The Pittsburgh Steelers have completely revamped the roster going into the 2025 season, but the fan base is still hoping that some more additions can be made. One of the more exciting moves of the offseason was Pittsburgh acquiring DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks, which ultimately played a role in the organization being comfortable enough to par ways with George Pickens. Metcalf is now the top receiver on the roster, but the situation is eerily similar to that of the 2024 season, where the rest of the wide receiver room is full of question marks and some concerns. While the idea of Metcalf is exciting, he needs some help at receiver. The fan base has been excited about the possibility about adding another weapon to the offense, with one of the top options being Terry McLaurin, as he requested a trade amidst his contract dispute with the Washington Commanders. However, there might be some other options, including Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins. Hill has been in hot water with Miami ever since the end of the 2024 season, when he essentially gave up on the team. It was a frustrating year for the Dolphins, but his behavior at certain points was inexcusable. Hill made another questionable decision on Friday when he suggested that the coaching staff put in a larger running back in short-yardage situations, and Head Coach Mike McDaniel didn't sound happy about that on Sunday. "I thought it was genius reporting by Tyreek." McDaniel said. "Seeing how we had a short-yardage period that day that you guys were in attendance for. His suggestion was, I guess, were congruent with Coach Studesville. It was exactly how we repped the backs in that short-yardage period that very day. We thought it was funny that he reported the news, that wasn't news, on that practice day." Criticizing coaching decisions to the media is a big no-no in the NFL, especially for a player that is trying to rebuild his trust with his teammates and the organization he represents. Hill is already on a short leash in Miami, and the organization could certainly be open to trading him if these types of antics continue. The veteran wide receiver is coming off of his worst season in the NFL since his rookie year back in 2016. He caught just 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 2024, and while that production is still near the top of the league, it is not what is expected from Hill. Miami had some quarterback issues last season which contributed to the lack of production from the wideout, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility for his time in Miami to be coming to an end. Steelers Could Take A Gamble Looking To Acquire Hill Hill's antics and performance last season should make him a relatively cheap acquisition. He is only under contract through 2026, and whatever team acquires him, or the Dolphins, will have the option to cut him after 2025 for a small dead cap hit. He would certainly be a gamble due to his attitude and the way he has acted over the last year, but there is no doubting his ability to take the top off of a defense and make exciting plays. It would be interesting to see him in Pittsburgh, although the idea may seem farfetched. Would you want to see Hill on the Steelers' roster?
Tottenham Hotspur star announces unexpected departure
In a summer already marked by high drama in the soccer world, Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has delivered a stunning announcement: he will leave the club this summer after more than a decade of service. The 33-year-old forward confirmed his decision during an emotional press conference ahead of Tottenham’s preseason friendly against Newcastle United in Seoul. This match may now serve as his farewell appearance for the club. Spurs head coach Thomas Frank has confirmed that Son will start and captain the side in Sunday’s game. "I have decided to leave the club this summer. Respectfully the club is helping me with this decision," said Son. "It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career. Such amazing memories. It was so hard to make the decision. "I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change — 10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man. "I want to say thank you to all the Spurs fans for giving me so much love. I hope the goodbye is also good timing and this is the right time to make that decision. I hope everyone can accept that and respect that." Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 and has since made 454 appearances, scoring 173 goals, sitting fourth on the club’s all-time scoring list. His final competitive outing is likely to remain the Europa League final victory over Manchester United in Bilbao, offering a storybook ending to a glittering career in north London. The South Korean revealed he made the decision some time ago, informing only a few teammates before speaking with Frank ahead of preseason. Son is reportedly exploring a move to Major League Soccer (MLS), with Los Angeles FC emerging as a leading contender. Interest from Saudi Arabian clubs also persists. He now becomes the latest high-profile departure at Spurs following Harry Kane’s 2023 transfer to Bayern Munich, as the club enters a new era under Frank, who joined from Brentford earlier this summer.
Braves star injured in Speedway Classic at Bristol
In a season full of hard luck for the Atlanta Braves, Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds brought more. Star third baseman Austin Riley exited the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway after tagging out Elly De La Cruz at home plate and saving a run in the bottom of the first inning. Riley fielded a ball that was smoked to third base off the bat of Miguel Andujar and chased Cruz down at the plate to keep Cincinnati's lead at one run. The next time Riley came up in the batting order, however, it was 28-year-old Luke Williams who stepped into the batter's box. The official reason given for Riley's departure from the contest was lower abdominal pain. Riley struck out in his lone plate appearance on Sunday. Riley, 28, is hitting .260 for Atlanta in 415 at-bats this season. He's hit 16 home runs with a .309 on-base percentage in 101 games. Riley strained an abdominal muscle on July 11 in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals, which led to the Memphis, Tenn., native being on the injured list until July 25. Atlanta is hoping that the pain he suffered on Sunday doesn't lead to a long-term injury.
