Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase stirred things up with the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of Sunday’s game and it probably played a role in a significant confrontation during the second quarter of the contest.

Chase got into a shoving match with Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed that nearly escalated into a full-fledged fight. After exchanging shoves, several other Chiefs got involved in going after Chase, including safeties Justin Reid and Mike Edwards.

Chase and Edwards were both called for offsetting personal fouls, but things did not escalate any further from that point.

This did not come out of nowhere. Chase set this up during the week, when he dismissed Kansas City’s defense and credited their success to knowing to double Cincinnati’s best players. The Chiefs were obviously aware of the disrespectful comments.

At least in the first half as of this posting, the Kansas City defense was struggling to slow down Cincinnati’s offense. A few plays after the scuffle, Chase actually drew a defensive pass interference call against Sneed that set the Bengals up at the goal line. The wide receiver would probably say this only proved his point.
