Watch: Blocked punt for TD boosts 49ers over Packers

The 49ers' special teams unit was on its game Saturday night.

San Francisco blocked a field goal early before blocking a punt late, picking it up and running it in for its first touchdown of the game.

With just under five minutes left to play, the Packers' offense stalled out deep in its own territory. Up by seven, Matt LaFleur summoned the punt team out onto the field.

That lead quickly evaporated when the 49ers burst through the line and got to punter Corey Bojorquez. They smacked his punt out of the air just as it came off his foot, sending it high into the cold Green Bay sky.

Once the punt came down, rookie defensive back Talanoa Hufanga spotted the ball, scooped it up and carried it in for the score to tie the game.

The 49ers would win, 13-10, behind Robbie Gould's 45-yard walk-off field goal.

The Packers' special teams unit was subject to much criticism in the week leading up to the game and all season long, finishing ranked 32nd in the NFL.
