Why did Ravens stop using explosive playmaker in Week 10 loss?

The Ravens got off to a hot start in Week 10 with the help of one of their promising rookies. However, they stopped using him which has many asking, "Why?" as the team fell to the Browns 33-31.

That player is undrafted rookie RB Keaton Mitchell, who had a 32-yard catch and run and scored a 39-yard rushing touchdown, which gave Baltimore a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Mitchell's explosive plays came as a surprise to nobody, however, after he had the most rushing yards (138) and was clocked running 20.99 miles per hour in a Week 9 breakout performance. But that clearly wasn't enough as he received just three carries the entire game.

Head coach John Harbaugh was asked why the Ravens didn't give Mitchell more opportunities in the second half and he said, "That's just how the game went."

It's certainly not what fans wanted to hear as he barely provided an explanation as to why. Mitchell didn't have the answer either and said he hopes to get more opportunities in the future.

"It is what it is," Mitchell told reporters. "Whenever I get my name called, I've got to make the most of my opportunities."

Baltimore may have opted to focus more on its passing game as Cleveland is allowing the seventh-least rushing yards per game (91.6) in the league. It's still hard to understand why Mitchell only got four touches the entire game, even with running backs Gus Edwards and Justice Hill still playing well.

Only time will tell, but Mitchell should have another great opportunity to grow his role in Week 11 when the Ravens host the Bengals, who are allowing the third most rushing yards per game (136.2).
