The New York Giants' rookie class is, of course, headlined by their pair of first round picks, pass rusher Abdul Carter and QB Jaxson Dart . However, their class has multiple rookies who could become part of the Giants' short-term and long-term plans. That includes their seventh-round pick, TE Thomas Fidone II, who caught the attention of future Hall of Fame TE Travis Kelce this offseason.

The Giants drafted Thomas Fidone II out of Nebraska in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. In a stacked TE class, Fidone fell into the background during the draft process, but if you watched him at Nebraska, I don't know how you could come away unimpressed. One of the top TEs in the class was Tyler Warren, who was praised for having so many different roles in Penn State's offense. Nebraska had a similar level of trust in Fidone, who wore multiple hats in their offense. And you can't blame them when you have a player who measures in at 6-6 and ran the 40 in 4.70 seconds.
The Giants' QB situation is unique, with them adding two new veterans in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, along with drafting Jaxson Dart in the first round. Regardless of who the starter is in any given week, their skill positions will need to step up. Their only proven weapon is WR Malik Nabers, who shined as a rookie in 2024, but they need to get more out of their TE room. The opportunity for Fidone to make the roster as a seventh round pick is right there, but he could also land a larger role than people realize. Theo Johnson is and should be considered the favorite to be the Giants' starting TE. But he isn't a proven commodity at this point, and if Fidone can outplay him in training camp and early in the 2025 season, he could slowly grow his role in the Giants' offense. And who knows, maybe he finishes his rookie year with multiple starts under his belt.
