An unrealistic Chiefs' dream is officially dead
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The two franchises will forever be entwined, even if the two fanbases don't like it. The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have many connections connecting the two teams.

Whether it be the fact that Andy Reid spent most of the first half of his coaching career there and was pretty successful in doing so or that the other Kelce brother, who is also a future Hall of Famer, plays for the Eagles, too.

Of course, and then there is the fact that the Chiefs beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl last season, which also helps these two teams forever be cemented in history together.

So, when some news happens with the Eagles that somewhat coincides with the Chiefs, it can be important. In this case, after the Monday night playoff games, the news dropped that Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce would be retiring.

Like Travis Kelce, Jason is one of the greatest players of all time in his position. And he's going out on top, too, as he was still one of the best centers in the league when he retired. Some fans may still be thinking, "Okay, but what does that have to do with the Chiefs?"

Well, now, some Chiefs' dream is officially dead.

Now that Kelce is retired, you can no longer wish and hope we get another Kelce Bowl in the Super Bowl. That was one of the few things that made the Chiefs' Super Bowl win so special. All week leading up to that, the two brothers were praised for the things they had done in the sport.

This also means that there is literally no chance the two brothers team up together in Kansas City, or anywhere else, for that matter. It already was super unrealistic, but now it's even more apparent it won't be happening.

And, lastly, while this isn't a dream by any means, this could mean that Travis Kelce is not far behind his big brother. The two are two years apart, with Travis being the younger of the two. The whole Travis Kelce is potentially retiring thing has been a topic of conversation for a few years now. After a rough season he has had, by his standards, he could hang it up after this season.

Jason Kelce had a great career, and I think he is one of the few players on the Eagles that Chiefs fans actually like, and it's hard not to like the guy. It sure was fun watching him play, even if he was losing to Travis Kelce in the Super Bowl.
