Analyst Has Bold Prediction For Packers Jordan Morgan Week 1

One of the positional groups the Green Bay Packers had to find reinforcements for this offseason was along the offensive line. In the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Packers found an upgrade with Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan.

Long-time left tackle Davis Bakhtiari was released in a cap-saving move. Guard Jon Runyan Jr. left in free agency, signing with the New York Giants. Morgan should be part of the group that helps Green Bay replace some of its lost talent.

However, one NFL analyst believes a spot in the starting lineup will not be going to the Arizona product in Week 1. Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report made projections for every starting lineup in the NFL for the first week of the season and Jordan Morgan is not part of the Packers’ starting five in the trenches.

“There are two interesting questions as far as the offense is concerned. The first is whether first-round pick Jordan Morgan earns a starting role by Week 1. Rasheed Walker had good moments as the left tackle last season and Morgan has suboptimal length for an NFL tackle. The Packers will play their best five linemen, though,” Ballentine wrote.

Rasheed Walker is at left tackle in Ballentine’s projection with Elgton Jenkins at left guard. At center, Josh Myers is projected to hold onto his spot, with Sean Rhyan at right guard replacing Runyan. Rounding out the group is Zach Tom at right tackle.

Morgan has a ton of experience playing left tackle for the Wildcats, but some evaluators believe that he will eventually find a home on the interior. Based on what Ballentine shared, the Packers’ first-round pick could have a better chance of supplanting Rhyan at right guard than Walker at left tackle.

Green Bay has also flirted with the idea of moving right tackle Tom to center as Myers has been underwhelming. Tom can play every spot along the offensive line, giving Matt LaFleur some flexibility when choosing his starting lineup. In that scenario, Morgan could take over as the right tackle.

It would be a mild surprise to see Jordan Morgan not in the starting lineup in Week 1. Normally first-round picks find their way onto the field unless something disastrous occurs. It will certainly be an interesting few months for the Packers, who will have several positional battles to keep an eye on.
