'Intrigue!''
The Kansas City Chiefs' offense in 2025 is going to be a fascinating watch, simply due to the narratives that have been surrounding the unit this offseason.
With some thinking that Patrick Mahomes has "peaked" and the offense isn't going to be able to rediscover its electric element that had us enamored early in Mahomes' career, there were a host of factors as to why the offense last season wasn't particularly good.
The big one is injuries, especially to Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice. The other is the poor offensive line play, both of which should be "fixed" heading into the new season
And for Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Chiefs' offense has an intriguing look to it in 2025.
"I’m on record as saying I think the Chiefs could be significantly better this year than they were in the playoffs on that side of the ball," Breer wrote with the theme of something intriguing about the team. "For one, the tackle situation should be improved from where it was in January and February (and all of 2024).
"Then, there’s the big-picture vision for last year’s offense that never played out because of injuries to Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Rashee Rice. So the idea that Brown and Worthy could effectively clear space for Rice and Travis Kelce to run through underneath remains intriguing."
Given that we haven't seen Rice and Brown on the field together and only have a four-game sample size of Rice with Xavier Worthy, there is a lot of optimism that with No. 4 back, the offense could morph into something far more potent than it has been.
Granted, Rice's off-field issues could put a dampener on that, with some thinking a suspension could be forthcoming, but once that is over, the Chiefs and Mahomes will have a nice collection of weapons.
The offense struggled last season, but now with Brown back, so too Rice, to go with Worthy and Travis Kelce, Kansas City might just be able to show that the electric element we came to love might just be on its way back.
