Analyst proposes surprising Aaron Rodgers trade to different bottom-feeder

The New York Jets have made it clear that they will take their time on a decision regarding Aaron Rodgers.

And Rodgers has said the same thing about his own approach to his future.

So with both new coach Aaron Glenn and new GM Darren Mougey putting their heads together on this ...

Should Rodgers stay or go?

The problem with the "stay'' argument is that this has been a failed experiment over the last two seasons. Rodgers at 41 has been mediocre on the field, and his promise to "change the culture'' off the field has been ineffective.

Indeed, some can argue that Rodgers' off-putting manner and even his selfishness has made the culture worse.

There is, to be sure, "baggage" that comes with employed the faded four-time MVP Rodgers ... which leaves different schools of thought.

Nick Shook of NFL.com thinks that the time has come to part ways with the future Hall of Famer.

"I'll make the decision ... Rip the bandage off now and move forward without Rodgers," Schook writes. It was a nice try, but their partnership ultimately didn't work out, which is fine. A fresh start is necessary for everyone, and if Rodgers still wants to play, he'll likely find at least some interest from a few teams who could use a short-term bridge."

That takes us to the next school of thought: Who are those "few teams''?

ESPN analyst Mina Kimes has an idea.

"I don't think they're going to draft a quarterback,'' Kimes said, tying Rodgers in trade to the Tennessee Titans. "I do think they're going to go the veteran quarterback route - I suspect ... His style of play meshes really well with (Titans head coach) Brian Callahan. ...

"The Titans aren't built to win right now, but signing Rodgers would allow the front office to draft the best player available with the No. 1 pick as opposed to reaching for a quarterback just because it's a need.

"Bring him in, get the offense going, and then focus on the offensive line and playmakers," Kimes added.

Our reactions?

*Kimes notes that the Titans "aren't built to win right now.'' Does that sound like something Rodgers would sign up for?

*Kimes projects as if she has insight into what the Titans want to do in the draft. With all due respect, we're dubious about that.

*Kimes claims that Rodgers' "style of play meshes really well with Brian Callahan,'' and we're dubious all over again. What exactly is Callahan's "style of play''? What exactly, at this point in his career, is Rodgers' "style of play''?

The Titans have the No. 1 pick in the draft. Many are expecting them to target one of the top quarterbacks, either Shedeur Sanders from Colorado or Cam Ward from Miami. But Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter and Colorado receiver/DB Travis Hunter can also be in play with the No. 1 overall pick.

The Titans would be wise to pick the best/most valuable talent ... while paying very little mind to sidebar issues like Aaron Rodgers.

This, therefore, all feels like guessing to us. ... as we wait for those involved to actually offer facts.
