Analyst Rips Cowboys’ Dak Prescott For Recent Comments On Contract

Say what you want, but Carton is 100 percent right.

If money really weren’t important for Prescott, he wouldn’t currently be engaged in this dispute with the Cowboys over his new deal.

Yes, the three-time Pro Bowler absolutely deserves credit for participating in voluntary workouts, and yes, Prescott has been a model citizen in Dallas ever since being drafted in 2016. He has also been one of the best quarterbacks in football during his time with the club.

All of those things are true, but the notion that Prescott doesn’t care how much money he makes has already been proven false. Remember: he had a contract beef with the Cowboys once before, too, and it resulted in Dallas giving him a four-year, $160 million deal.

Prescott is coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign in which he led the NFL with 36 passing touchdowns to go along with 4,516 yards and just nine interceptions. He finished second in MVP voting for his efforts.

The Mississippi State product also led Dallas to an NFC East division title, although the Cowboys were then eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Prescott’s shaky playoff record may be giving Dallas some pause about handing him a massive deal, as he has gone just 2-5 in the postseason.

That being said, the Cowboys will have trouble finding another signal-caller as good as Prescott, so the veteran does have some leverage here.

But the very idea that Dak Prescott does not care about how much money he earns is definitely ridiculous. He isn’t fooling anyone.
