Analyst Tabs Adoree’ Jackson as Perfect Fit with Steelers
Chris Pedota, NorthJersey.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Pittsburgh Steelers have major question marks at slot cornerback heading into the 2024 season. They have veteran Anthony Averrett, Darius Rush, Josiah Scott and Beanie Bishop as potential options, but there’s no one that’s a shoo-in to fill the spot. Jackson could be a slot option, but he’s never played in the slot and it would create a hole at right outside cornerback.

Jackson said that he’s willing to do whatever the teams needs him to, but right now, the plan does not involve him playing in the slot.

“I’m open to doing whatever helps this defense be successful,” he said. “I haven’t played any inside in my career. They haven’t talked to me about playing on the inside. But if it comes down to that, I’ll be ready to go wherever I need to go to help be successful. But for now, I’ve just been mainly outside, playing opposite of Joey, trying to learn the ropes.”

Nearly 80% of Scott’s career snaps have come in the slot, according to Pro Football Focus. Bishop is also a player that the Steelers have high hopes for.

In a recent article, Marcus Mosher of the 33rd Team tabbed veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson as a perfect fit for the Steelers. He believes Jackson could be the answer for the Steelers at slot corner.

Jackson has played most of his career on the outside but has some slot experience from when he played at USC and early on with the Titans.

Jackson, 28, was a first-round selection by the Tennessee Titans in 2017. He has 77 starts and 83 career games under his belt. He’s recorded 56 passes defended and four interceptions in his career, one of which went for a touchdown last season.

Jackson was the New York Giants’ No. 1 cornerback. But, at this stage of his career, he’s more of a No. 2 cornerback or a slot option.
