Andre Cisco offers football up to the gods after Jets’ first turnover

When the impossible becomes possible, sacrifices are almost innate in human logic. That’s where the New York Jets come into play.

After forcing its first turnover of the season—in their sixth game—free safety Andre Cisco hilariously offered up the football to the gods.

Cisco, 25, could have played a role in The Lion King, as his two-handed sacrificial extension did not go unnoticed.

Aaron Glenn’s defense forced and recovered a fumble on the Denver Broncos’ first possession of the game. After a nice flush to the right by quarterback Bo Nix, he found youngster Troy Franklin for what looked to be an impressive first-down pickup on third-and-7.

Instead, newcomer Jarvis Brownlee Jr. forced the loose ball. Cisco played the role of Johnny on the spot, securing the pigskin for the near-mythical Jets defensive turnover.

The 2025 Jets became the first team in NFL history to start 0-5 without a single forced turnover. Not only that, but Steve Wilks’s defense has been nothing better than putrid this year.

As it currently stands, the New York Jets trail Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos 10-6 in the second quarter. Although the Jets are technically the home team, this is the organization’s lone international contest of the season, played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Tottenham, London, United Kingdom.
