Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs improved to 5-3 on Monday following their convincing 28-7 win over the Washington Commanders. It was a primetime matchup for the Chiefs on “Monday Night Football,” and they stepped up to secure their third straight victory.
The Chiefs, however, suffered several crucial injuries during the game. Running back Isiah Pacheco was forced to exit the contest in the fourth quarter after taking a big hit. Linebacker Nick Bolton also sustained an injury.
Coach Reid provided updates on his players after the game.
It was a big day in the office for Patrick Mahomes. The two-time All-Pro quarterback recovered from his two interceptions early on to finish with 25-of-34 completed passes for 299 yards and three touchdowns.
Travis Kelce also turned in a strong performance, registering six catches for a game-high 99 receiving yards. The 10-time Pro Bowler also made history by tying Chiefs legend Priest Holmes for the most career TDs in franchise history with 83.
Despite the win, however, there is some concern surrounding Kansas City’s injuries from the game. Coach Reid addressed the issues during his postgame press conference, but was not able to provide significant details on the status of his injured players.
"Andy Reid says Isiah Pacheco and Nick Bolton both had knee injuries and they'll see how that goes," reported Harold R. Kuntz of FOX4 News Kansas City.
Both players will likely undergo tests after the game, which should determine the severity of their respective injuries. The status of Pacheco and Bolton for the Chiefs’ next game will be worth monitoring.
Kansas City will be back in action on Sunday for a Week 9 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. It’s going to be a road game for the Chiefs at Highmark Stadium, with kickoff scheduled at 4:25 p.m. ET.
