Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are in unfamiliar territory this offseason after missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. The Chiefs ended the 2025 NFL season with a 6-11 record, finishing third in the AFC West.

With a bevy of offseason coaching staff changes, the Chiefs are looking to regain their footing in the conference. Eric Bieniemy returns to the offense to replace former offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. DeMarco Murray was hired as the running backs coach, replacing Todd Pinkston. And Chad O'Shea was hired as the wide receivers coach, replacing Connor Embree. Not to forget that Mahomes is now recovering from a torn ACL.

Reid is no stranger to health scares as well. In the 2021 NFL season, Reid had multiple health issues in the same year. Following a 2021 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Reid was hospitalized due to dehydration. He has been open about his weight-related issues and how that impacts his health as well. Reid also underwent a knee replacement surgery in the 2016 offseason

And on Friday, in an online interview with KCSN's Herbie Teope, Reid opens up about his latest health concern in a light-hearted manner, saying he is missing the combine due to a new knee procedure he recently underwent.

"I couldn't take you guys anymore than this right here Herbie," Reid said. "Listen, I had a little knee procedure done, so I'm on IR for about a second here. Not long though, Herbie."

NFL free agency begins on March 11, and the 2026 NFL Draft begins on April 23. The Chiefs will look to enhance their roster this offseason in hopes of returning to the Super Bowl.
