Andy Reid Announces Unfortunate News for Chiefs

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs couldn't get it done in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season, dropping to 5-4 after a 28-21 loss to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Now, after enjoying a week off with a bye in Week 10, the Chiefs will look to get back on track in Week 11, hitting the road to face Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.

Kansas City has relied heavily on its passing game during its recent three-Super Bowl dynasty, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce leading the way. However, fourth-year running back Isiah Pacheco has proven to be a key piece of the offense, rushing for 329 yards and a touchdown through eight games in 2025.

But in the Chiefs’ Week 8 win over the Washington Commanders, Pacheco suffered an MCL sprain after taking a low tackle, forcing him to leave the game early. The injury was significant enough to sideline him from practice the following week, and he ultimately missed the matchup against the Bills, with Kareem Hunt filling in as his replacement.

As the Chiefs return to Kansas City to resume practice, head coach Andy Reid provided updates on several injured players, noting that offensive linemen Jawaan Taylor (ankle) and Josh Simmons (personal) have a good chance to play against the Broncos. However, the same can’t be said for Pacheco, as Reid suggested the running back may need more time to recover.

"Yeah, we'll have to see on Pacheco," Reid said (h/t KC Sports Network). "And Taylor was feeling pretty good by the time he got back here and had left. So, I think we'll probably be okay there."

Reid and the Chiefs will make their way to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
