There's only one logical spot to put an active head coach who is closing in on all-time Mount Rushmore status. That's why Andy Reid has once again found himself at the top of a ranking of the National Football League's head coaches.
Reid is listed as the No. 1 head coach in NFL Spin Zone’s 2025 rankings. It's a fitting accolade for the leader of a Kansas City Chiefs franchise that has dominated the NFL in an era marked by parity.
With three Super Bowl wins and five appearances in the last six seasons, Reid’s creativity and consistency separate him from the rest of the NFL's most respected coaches. The Chiefs have also played in the last seven AFC Championship games, keeping very talented teams at bay in the conference year after year.
Reid already holds the record for coaching in the most playoff games ever. HIs 28 playoff wins is only second to Bill Belichick's 31, putting him ahead of legends like Tom Landry and Don Shula and Joe Gibbs.
In terms of regular season success, Reid sits at No. 4 on the NFL's all-time coaching wins list with 273. He's still a couple of seasons from cresting the 300-win mark and topping Belichick at No. 3 (302). If Reid wanted to keep coaching, he's got a good chance of catching George Halas at No. 2 (318) and even Shula at the top spot (328).
While Reid was already a well-respected head coach from his 14 seasons in Philadelphia, where he recorded a 130-93-1 overall record, his tenure in Kansas City has been truly remarkable. Reid's record of 143-53 in K.C. gives him a blistering .730 win percentage and an average win total of 12 in the regular season.
What's even scarier for others is that Reid is hotter than ever as a head coach. His 16-3 record in the playoffs over the last six seasons is unheard of, a run of supremacy that will forever be remembered by NFL fans.
For Chiefs Kingdom, Reid’s recognition is no surprise. His ability to develop talent and out-scheme opponents has become normalized in Kansas City, where playoff appearances are now the expected floor. The coming season should only further bolster Reid's resume with plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, which means Big Red should be sitting atop the same list this time next year.
