It was a rough day for the Kansas City Chiefs.
After suffering a scary knee injury in the waning moments of Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that eliminated them from playoff contention, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes limped off the field and had to be helped back to the locker room.
In his post-game news conference, Kansas City head coach Andy Reid gave a brief update on Mahomes, who appeared to be in serious pain on the field immediately following the injury.
"As far as the injuries go, Patrick hurt his left knee," Reid said. "He'll get an MRI tomorrow or this evening, whenever they get him in there."

Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew came in for Mahomes and guided the Chiefs into Los Angeles territory, but threw a game-sealing interception.
Kansas City will miss the postseason for the first time since 2014. 2025 will also be the first time in Mahomes' career as a starter that the Chiefs will not go to the AFC Championship Game.
While the chance to make the playoffs is no longer there, the Chiefs can at least finish the year with a winning record at 9-8 if they win out. Depending on the severity of Mahomes' injury, that may be a very difficult task.
