Many fans will be tuning in to Super Bowl 59 just to see the slew of unique (and expensive) commercials that the top brands in the world will be showing off. One of those ad campaigns gives us a glimpse at Chiefs head coach Andy Reid that is a bit hard to unsee.
In a commercial for Pringles entitled "The Call of the Mustaches" a group of partygoers run out of Pringles chips. When actor Adam Brody hears a voice telling him to blow into a can, mustaches of famous actors and athletes start flying off their faces and attach themselves to cans that fly to Brody's party.
Among those who lose their mustaches in the video are Nick Offerman, James Harden and Reid. A version of the 1960s "Batman" theme song plays in the background with the word changed to "Mustache."
Behold:
Now that's something you probably won't be unseeing anytime soon.
According to the New York Post, FCB New York was responsible for the (terrifying? hilarious?) ad. FCB New York chief creative officer Michael Aimette told the outlet that they can't wait for people to see it and laugh.
“We at FCB were incredibly fortunate to have our cameras ready to capture that heroic, magical migration for the world to witness and delight in—and laugh at,” Aimette said in a statement.
The brass at Pringles appear to be pretty excited for the ad campaign too. Sarah Reinecke of Kellanova, Pringles' parent company, said that the goal of the ad is "harnessing the power of some of the most legendary mustaches in culture to take our crisps to new heights, literally."
“With our iconic mascot Mr. P on every can, Pringles has the strongest mustache in the snack aisle,” Reinecke said in a statement. “This year, we’re harnessing the power of some of the most legendary mustaches in culture to take our crisps to new heights, literally.”
Mission accomplished.
