The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a sluggish performance in Super Bowl LIX, falling 40–22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in their bid to make history by winning three consecutive Lombardi Trophies.
Now, with mandatory minicamp underway and training camp on the horizon, everyone is back in the building—and more motivated than ever—including 35-year-old tight end Travis Kelce.
While Kelce posted career lows in both receiving yards (833) and touchdowns (3) last season, he believes he still has plenty left in the tank. This week, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked about Kelce’s potential workload in 2025 and whether he anticipates any major changes.
“Yeah, I’m not really feeling that—more will be similar to last year, I would imagine, as it goes,” Reid said. “He’s in great shape right now, so he’s looking forward to getting going."
He continued, "I always watch him, I always keep an eye on him. I know he’s getting older—he doesn’t know he’s getting older, but I do. If I think it’s catching up to him a little bit, I’ll pull off and put him where he needs to be. Other than that, he hasn’t shown me any of that yet. He’s done really well.”
Kelce and Reid’s journey with the Chiefs began together in 2013—when Kelce was drafted and Reid took over as head coach. While their relationship has included a few heated on-field moments over the years, it has ultimately been defined by success, including three Super Bowl titles during their time together.
On Wednesday, Kelce made it clear he has no intention of playing anywhere else, even as he enters the final year of his contract with the Chiefs.
