Could Tyreek Hill return to the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason? That seems to be a hot topic this week.

The Miami Dolphins released Hill a few days ago in a cap-saving move. The team signed him to a four-year, $120 million extension in 2022. It's not a huge surprise the five-time All-Pro was released at this stage in his career, especially since he's recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL.

“Miami’s eight-time Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill is being released. Hill turns 32 on March 1, is recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL, and now will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career. His release will save the Dolphins $22.8 million against the salary cap,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The Chiefs were mentioned as a suitor for Hill the moment he was released by the Dolphins. He had an excellent run in Kansas City from 2016-2021, racking up 6,630 yards through the air and 62 total touchdowns.

Speaking to the media Friday afternoon, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked if the team has reached out to Hill about a reunion.

"I don't even know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything," Reid said, via NFL.com. "So I'm sure he's working hard on that part of it and trying to get that part all straightened out. Listen, we talk about everything. There's nothing happening there, but we know that you know - that he's out there and cranking away, trying to get himself back to where he can play, period."

A reunion could still happen.

ESPN's Louis Riddick believes the Chiefs present the perfect fit for Hill. He's not the only analyst that believes a reunion makes sense for both parties.

“Yeah I’ve just kind of felt that’s been a missing piece for them,” NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said. “I think the Chiefs — and Tyreek Hill, with him being back in the news and being released and we’ll see if he ends up back in Kansas City. But I think he was a really key player in that offense and was a really key contributor at changing the game.”

Time will tell if the Chiefs work out a deal with Hill.
