Another NFL Analyst Call For Aaron Rodgers Trade To Jets
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

This upcoming offseason is going to be a very interesting one for the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers signed a massive contract extension this past offseason that ensured he would remain with the team through the 2022 season, but beyond that, there was no guarantee of what would happen. If Rodgers retires, he is leaving behind a large sum of money, as he is due to make $59 million next year. However, given the performance of the Packers this season, it could be best for both parties if they separate, whether it is via Rodgers retiring or moving on to another franchise. Perhaps the New York Jets could be a potential trade suitor.

A trade is something that has been brought the last two offseason after the Packers traded up in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to select quarterback Jordan Love out of Nevada. Rodgers responded by winning the MVP award in back-to-back seasons, but Green Bay has to figure out what to do with Love, as well.

Should the Packers make Rodgers available for a trade, there are plenty of teams that would be interested in him. His contract is a hurdle to work around, but for someone of his caliber, that is a worthwhile hurdle to jump over.

One of the teams that have been mentioned as a possible Rodgers landing spot is the New York Jets. Aaron Larson of The Fantasy Footballers Podcast and Fantasy Pros is the latest analyst to get on that train.

This is a situation that the Packers and Jets have already gone through once. When Green Bay was ready to move on from Brett Favre in favor of Rodgers, it was New York who acquired him in a trade. Could that be the outcome again?

Gang Green’s quarterback situation is certainly up in the air for the future. Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, has been benched in favor of Mike White. White doesn’t seem like he will be the long-term answer for New York, but if he plays at or near the level that he did against the Chicago Bears in Week 12, he will certainly make a strong case for himself.

This Jets roster is an established quarterback away from being legitimate contenders in the AFC. Their defense is excellent and the offense has some very good weapons to work with. Getting healthy and getting the offensive line back on track is also of the utmost importance, but inserting a player such as Aaron Rodgers into the lineup would elevate the Jets to new heights.
