Another Sunday, Another Buccaneers Let Down
Mark Konezny-Imagn Images

This Buccaneers team has no business being in a playoff race. I’d argue they have no business playing in primetime either.

The Bucs once again came out of the tunnel looking flat and mediocre. This time against the Los Angeles Rams. No fire, no passion, just plain vanilla ice cream, no sprinkles or anything. Just look at the players faces, ever week they look shell-shocked. It’s almost like they weren’t prepared for what’s coming…

It’s now 14-0

The Rams however, came out fired up, aggressive, and ready to play. This would explain why the Pewter Pirates looked overwhelmed in the first quarter against Los Angeles.

Tampa isn’t going to have to worry about their OC being poached this offseason. Unless Kennesaw State comes calling. First year Offensive Coordinator Josh Grizzard seems lost as a play caller.

But Wait, There’s More

Head Coach Todd Bowles’ conservative bend but don’t break style continues to allow opposing teams to impose their will. And the Rams are more than willing to exploit it.

Yes, there’s been injuries to deal with, but teams that fancy themselves as contenders find a way. This Bowles led team either can’t, or is being held back from doing so.

Mid-season slump after mid-season slump, year after year has now become Bowles’ calling card. While most teams competing for a playoff birth are getting better, the Bucs are getting worse.

It’s now 21-7

We’ve been preaching about these issues for awhile, but were told the analytics say it isn’t that bad. Guess what, analytics don’t factor in mindset, momentum or will.

Of course the Buccaneers will hang around in this game. And of course Mayfield will put his body on the line in an effort to keep the team in it. But to what end? Another one and done in the playoffs?

Either Bowles gets hit on the head and gains some common sense, or this team is doomed to be what they are, a team hovering just over .500 and on the golf course before the conference championship game.

It’s now 31-7 at the half
