With just one game left before they close out their preseason schedule, there are still plenty of training camp battles that have yet to be settled. That’s why we’re sitting down with Antwan Staley of the New York Daily News for his thoughts.
Here are a few of the head-to-head competitions worth thinking about that we covered with Staley.
Center: Joe Tippman vs Josh Myers: This is a competition that few fans took seriously at the time of the Myers signing, but it’s clear that the regime meant it when they said he’d compete for the starting job. Tippmann is simply the better player so if he were to start the season on the bench, fans would be unlikely to be all that receptive to the idea.
WR2: After Garrett Wilson the cupboard is pretty bare. Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard and (lately) Arian Smith are in the mix to win the job. If we had to guess, we’d say Reynolds is WR2 with Smith having a shot to steal the job at some point during the season.
TE2: Mason Taylor is going to be the team’s number one tight end with Jeremy Ruckert presumably lining up as TE2. However, free agent addition Stone Smartt has had more moments throughout camp that have been better than anything Ruckert has done. Is Ruckert’s roster spot safe?
We also cover the futures of Michael Clemons, Derrick Nnadi, Max Mitchell and Carter Warren. Click the link above to check it out.
