Jeremiyah Love falling all the way to the Minnesota Vikings witih the 18th pick in the NFL Draft is probably a long shot, but the odds of it happening might've increased slightly after a flurry of running back moves on the first day of free agency.
With the Kansas City Chiefs signing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, and the New Orleans Saints adding former Jaguars standout Travis Etienne, there are, at least conceivably, two teams picking ahead of the Vikings that might no longer be a threat to draft Love.
Love has also been mocked as high as No. 3 to the Arizona Cardinals, but it's easy to anticipate Arizona drafting for a different need now that they've re-signed James Conner and added Tyler Allgeier in free agency. Even the Cardinals' official website says it "likely ends much of the speculation that the Cardinals could take running back Jeremiyah Love third in the NFL Draft."
So, if we can, at least hypothetically, cross the Cardinals, Chiefs, and Saints off the list of Love suitors in the first round of the draft, what other teams are a threat to select him? Bad news: still quite a few.
The Raiders are expected to take quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first pick, while the Jets are unlikely to select Love at No. 2 since they have Breece Hall.
The next threats are the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants at picks 4 and 5, respectively. The Titans have Tony Pollard at RB1, and the Giants have Cam Skattebo, who is working his way back from a serious leg injury. Clearly, both could use an upgrade.
Cleveland has Quinshon Judkins, so they're probably not a realistic landing spot at No. 6.
Washington, at No. 7, could take Love. The Commanders' top runner appears to be Jacory Croskey-Merritt. He was solid as a rookie, but Love's talent might be too good to pass if he's available.
The Bengals have Chase Brown, so they're probably good. The same goes for Miami with De'Von Achane.
Dallas is a legit threat to take Love at No. 12. The Rams have Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, but would Sean McVay pass up on Love if he's available at No. 13? The Raiders have Ashton Jeanty so they're not taking him at No. 14, and the Bucs, Jets, and Lions, none of whom need a running back, pick 15-17, respectively.
That leads to the Vikings at No. 18. So, will Love slide past the Titans, Giants, Commanders, Cowboys, and Rams? It's still unlikely, but, yeah, the chance is a little bit higher today than it was yesterday.
