The two teams faced off last season in North Carolina, where Arizona lost in heartbreaking fashion in overtime 36-30. The franchise was fighting for a playoff spot, but couldn’t contain a masterclass from Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. Quarterback Kyler Murray looks for revenge at the team that essentially eliminated his team from the playoffs with a retooled roster.
The Cardinals’ defense was one of the organization’s biggest weaknesses last season, but general manager Monti Ossenfort’s moves this offseason might have fixed those holes. Ossenfort signed Pro Bowlers like edge Josh Sweat and DT Calais Campbell in hopes of making Arizona’s pass rush elite.
Week 2 will be the first opportunity for the Red Sea to see their team in action live. State Farm Stadium will be rowdy for their team, which has a lot of hope about making the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
