Arizona Cardinals Add Intriguing Weapon For Kyler Murray
Steve Roberts-USA TODAY Sports

One of the goals that the Arizona Cardinals had coming into the 2024 NFL offseason was to upgrade the weapons around quarterback Kyler Murray. Veteran Marquise Brown departed in free agency, signing a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The team also traded Rondale Moore to the Atlanta Falcons, clearing the way for some of their other younger players. That created a huge void at the position, which they started to fill during the 2024 NFL Draft.

With the No. 4 overall pick, the Arizona Cardinals selected Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison has a chance to be a star right out of the gate, possessing all of the tools you want from a prototypical No. 1 receiver.

Alas, the experience would be their biggest need at the position. Established talent isn’t plentiful, as Kyler Murray would be working with some green receivers. But, that will reportedly be changing. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Arizona Cardinals will be signing veteran Zay Jones.

Jones was a causality of the numbers game with the Jacksonville Jaguars. After signing Gabe Davis in free agency and using their first-round pick on Brian Thomas Jr., Jones was released as the team saved about $8 million.

After setting multiple career-highs in 2022 with the Jaguars, injuries derailed the 2023 campaign for Jones. He missed eight games, which led to his production falling off across the board. Getting released after the NFL Draft isn’t ideal for players, but Jones has landed in a great spot.

He will have a chance to compete for a starting spot alongside Harrison and is going to be a reliable veteran for Kyler Murray to work with. With running back James Conner and tight end Trey McBride still in the mix, the Arizona Cardinals are putting together a solid group of skill position players around their franchise quarterback.
