GLENDALE –The 2025 NFL free agency period has been superb for the Arizona Cardinals. The franchise entered the offseason with glaring holes on the defensive side of the ball. General manager Monti Ossenfort had to roll up his sleeves and try to plug in the gaps defensively. The result was Pro Bowlers Josh Sweat and Calais Campbell joining the team, giving Arizona the freedom to draft the best available with its first-round pick in the NFL draft.
However, free agency for the Cardinals might not be done, as Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox highlighted an available Pro Bowler cornerback the Cardinals should target in James Bradberry.
“Bradberry was a very reliable starter in 2022 and allowed an opposing passer rating of only 51.6 in coverage that season. That also happened to be Philly’s last season with defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who currently serves as Arizona’s head coach.”
Bradberry didn’t see the field in 2024, with the Eagles overloaded with a talented secondary. The former Pro-Bowler still has gas in the tank that can help a woeful Arizona pass defense. The Cardinals ranked 21st in yards per completion in 2024.
Ossenfort focused mostly on the front seven during free agency for the franchise, but the cornerback room could still use upgrades. At 31 years old and 124 starts, Bradberry offers Arizona’s secondary some much-needed experience and leadership for a young core.
