Arizona Cardinals expected to name Joshua Dobbs as Week One starter

After weeks of refusing to name a starting quarterback with an aim of to gain a “competitive advantage,” it is being reported that the Arizona Cardinals will likely hand the football over to Joshua Dobbs this Sunday, per Ian Rapoport.

The Cardinals will be the final team in the NFL to announce their Week One starter.

Joshua Dobbs was acquired from the Browns on August 24th; four days later, the Cards released veteran QB Colt McCoy.

While Colt McCoy certainly has more experience than Dobbs, the Cardinals, who are already facing some difficult circumstances with Kyler Murray out until at least Week 5, are ready to take a chance on the 28-year-old.

Last season, Dobbs got his first career starts, and they came during the final two weeks of the regular season as the Titans were battling for a playoff spot.

In these two starts for Tennessee, Joshua Dobbs averaged 205.5 yards per game, tallying two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Now, after having just two starts under his belt, Dobbs will likely be a Week One starting quarterback in the National Football League.
