Arizona Cardinals Reportedly Planning Mid-Season Quarterback Change

Although we’re just five weeks into the season, the Arizona Cardinals seem to be inching closer to a quarterback change.

Jacoby Brissett has been productive for the Cardinals, completing 66.3% of his passes for 1,110 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Outside of a brutal performance against the New York Giants, which included a game-losing pick-six, he’s been efficient under center.

That being said, ESPN’s Dan Graziano expects the Cardinals to eventually bench Brissett in favor of rookie quarterback Carson Beck,

“I absolutely expect the Cardinals to take a look at Beck at some point this season, though I’ve been told it might not happen until late November, when their schedule eases up a bit,” Graziano wrote. “Arizona’s next six games are at the Rams, home against the Broncos, at the Cowboys, at Seattle, home to the Rams and at Kansas City — a bit of a gauntlet for a rookie QB. Of course, it’s possible we will see Beck sooner, especially if Brissett gets traded at the deadline, but I don’t get the sense the Cardinals are planning to rush this. Cards coach Mike LaFleur had some comments Monday that indicated Beck could be moving up the depth chart, though.”

This change feels inevitable.

Earlier this week, Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur told reporters that he’d consider moving Beck to the active roster instead of having him as the emergency backup.

Beck, the 65th overall pick from the 2026 NFL Draft, showed serious promise at Miami last season, completing 72.4% of his pass attempts for 3,813 yards with 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

As for his NFL career, Beck turned heads at the Hall of Fame Game by completing 15-of-19 pass attempts for 188 yards and a touchdown.
